Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi is understood to be making encouraging progress in his recovery and could soon return to compete for his place in coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side.

The Bafana Bafana defender has been unavailable for the Buccaneers in recent matches after sustaining a knock during the first leg of their MTN8 semi-final against Sekhukhune United.

While the exact time frame for his return remains unclear, indications fromk is on the mend and is not expected to be sidelined for an extended period

Pirates’ medical team confirmed on Saturday that Sibisi remained unavailable for selection as he continued his recovery from the knock sustained in the first leg.

The 30-year-old subsequently missed the Buccaneers’ MTN8 semi-final second-leg encounter against Sekhukhune at the Orlando Amstel Arena, as Ouaddou’s side went on to secure their place in the final.

Sibisi’s absence has been felt by the Buccaneers, with the Bafana international having established himself as one of the key figures in the Pirates defence.
