Greater Manchester Falcons are gearing up for their biggest game of the season as the T20 final comes to Bolton.
Just two years after Greater Manchester Vision Impaired Sports (GMVIS) was founded by a group of visually impaired friends, the club’s cricket team, the Greater Manchester Falcons, has reached the Blind Cricket England and Wales National Development T20 Final for the second consecutive year.
The Falcons will take on the Cheshire Cobras host in this year’s final at Astley Bridge Cricket Club in Bolton on Sunday, September 6 at 1pm.

In their debut season, the team produced a sensational campaign, winning the Northern Regional League and reaching the national T20 final, eventually finishing as runners-up in England and Wales.
The team is captained by Bolton’s Tokeer Akhtar.
He said: “To reach another National Development T20 Final in only our second season is an incredible achievement.
“We are extremely proud of what this group has accomplished.
“Last year showed everyone what we were capable of, but getting back to the final proves that we are building something sustainable.
“The lads have worked incredibly hard, supported one another and continued to improve.
Now we have the chance to play
“Now we have the chance to play a national final in our own town, in front of our families, friends and the people of Bolton.
“We really want everyone to come down, experience blind cricket and get behind the Falcons.”

GMVIS Chairman Muhammad Valli said: “When we started GMVIS, our aim was simply to create opportunities for visually impaired people in Bolton and Greater Manchester.
We wanted people to have somewhere to come,
“We wanted people to have somewhere to come, meet others, have fun and compete in sport.
“To now be hosting a National Development T20 Final in Bolton, just two years after the club was founded, is something we could never have imagined.
It is a huge moment for GMVIS, for the Falcons and for visually impaired sport in the region.”
