Former South Africa and RCB batter AB de Villiers recently opened up on his first interaction with Virat Kohli. He clearly stated that Kohli’s confident attitude and behavior gets misinterpreted sometimes. de Villiers also added the fact that Kohli became a more balanced cricketer and person.
Speaking to renowned YouTuber Prakhar Gupta on his YouTube podcast named “PGX”, de Villiers explained how he was impressed by Kohli’s high level of confidence. “Just a high level of confidence and he’s always played his cricket that way. It gets misinterpreted sometimes. In my case, that’s what happened as well. He came across as overly confident. And that also faded away as he grew older. And as he became more balanced as a person and as a cricket player, I think he had a lot to prove when he was younger and that faded away,” he said.

“I think obviously for South Africa, we played against each other, South Africa, India international cricket. I heard about him through Mark Boucher when Boucher was with him at RCB in 2008. And yeah after that we played a lot of international cricket against each other and obviously joined forces in 2011 at RCB and became really good friends,” he further said while remembering his first ever meeting with Kohli.
