Suresh Raina in his recent podcast with Aaksh chopra gives hint on getting back with CSK but as a coach and not a player.
After retiring from international cricket in August 2020, Suresh Raina continued his cricketing journey with the Chennai Super Kings. He played many outstanding innings with the CSK franchise. As per stats, Raina has appeared in 176 matches for CSK. After hanging up his cleats in the IPL in 2022, fans have been eager to witness the former batter donning the yellow jersey again. But now, the 39-year-old has dropped massive hints of his return to the franchise, sparking happy rumours all around.
“Yeah, why not? I’d love to join. I’ve done a lot for this club and won trophies for CSK. It’s their call now; I still want to wear the CSK jersey and contribute. If given the opportunity, I’d be more than happy,” Suresh Raina said in the recent Baith & Bol Podcast hosted by Aakash Chopra.

Suresh Raina started his IPL Journey with CSK in 2008 where is scored 520 runs in just 16 innings and marked the beginning of his era in the Indian Premier League. Has played 11 seasons with Chennai Super Kings and became a match winner for them. Scored the iconic 87(25) against Kings XI Punjab in the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2014, the record was still unbroken for a long period of time. He was the highest Run-scorer in IPL until he went unsold and Virat took over. Raina has Played 205 IPL matches and scored 5528 runs with 1 century and 39 half centuries and countless Impactful innings.
He had a falling-out with the franchise during the 2020 season of the IPL when he had to leave the team midway due to a family tragedy that happened with his relatives in Punjab. Players in Camp too had tested positive during this time. But rumours and reports started circulating that there was a disagreement between the player and the franchise regarding the hotel room restrictions.
Raina as a coach?
Suresh Raina never had a stint as a coach earlier, nor was he asked before for a coaching role by any franchise. If it worked out, this would be his first tenure. He was actively involved in commentary, analysis and on-field reporting but never as a coach.
