South African cricketer Dewald Brevis has expressed enthusiasm about playing at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, one of the venues for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. The Proteas are preparing for a T20 International tri-series involving Zimbabwe and Namibia, which begins on August 28.
The tri-series will open with South Africa facing hosts Namibia at the Windhoek ground, a venue scheduled to host matches in next year’s World Cup. The teams will also compete in a three-match One Day International series after the T20 matches.

Brevis, regarded as a promising talent in South Africa’s youthful team, highlighted the value of adapting to diverse conditions at the Windhoek venue. “I’m very excited. The ground looks beautiful. Obviously there will always be challenges and conditions, to which you adapt fast, and you make sure when it’s a flat wicket, when the conditions are great, that we perform on that,” he said, as quoted by the ICC website.

Regarding the youthful nature of the squad, Brevis emphasised the players’ dedication to representing South Africa to the best of their abilities. “I see it as a contest for sure. Obviously, it’s younger players, but everyone is very talented and deserves to be here. It’s an opportunity to represent your country and make your country proud. So, we are all fresh and ready to play,” he said.
The tri-series schedule at Namibia Cricket Ground, Windhoek, is as follows:
- August 28: Namibia v South Africa
- August 29: South Africa v Zimbabwe
- August 31: Namibia v Zimbabwe
- September 1: Zimbabwe v South Africa
- September 3: Namibia v Zimbabwe
- September 4: Namibia v South Africa
- September 6: Final (teams to be confirmed)
The subsequent Namibia v South Africa ODI series will take place on September 9, 11, and 13 at the same venue.
