Former cricketer Will Pucovski has reached a settlement with Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria over the series of concussions that ended a promising career.
The 28-year old was forced to retire after suffering a run of 13 concussions which have caused lingering effects, including vision problems, headaches, nausea and issues completing tasks on the left side of his body.
It is also feared he is in danger of in future suffering from the brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) which has been found in a number of athletes across sports and seen several, including AFL greats Danny Frawley, Shane Tuck and Adam Hunter, lose their lives.

A CODE Sports report reveals Pucovski, CA and CV have reached a confidential financial agreement, as compensation for the former opener’s harrowing ordeal.
The agreement comes amid a rapidly changing landscape for sports around the globe regarding concussion.

The settlement comes after the Victorian launched legal action against Melbourne private school Brighton Grammar, alleging a breach of duty of care following a concussion during an Australian Rules football training session in 2014.
The then-16-year old returned to training minutes after being knocked unconscious, but would miss months of school as a consequence, and later went to hospital.
Pucovski alleges he has never felt the same
Pucovski alleges he has “never felt the same” after the incident, where he accidentally copped a teammate’s knee to the temple.
“I literally got walked to the sidelines. And then my only memory was the coach coming up to me and being like ‘Do you want to keep training?’” Pucovski revealed last month at a ‘Taverners’ function at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club.
“It is probably the biggest day of my life in a weird way because I have never felt the same since that day.
I went from someone who would do anything
“I went from someone who would do anything and everything to basically sitting on the couch doing nothing for an extended period.”
Long earmarked for Test cricket, the Victorian made his Test debut at the SCG in January 2021, making a composed half-century.
But a shoulder injury would rule him out of the series decider at the Gabba, before a string of head knocks in the Sheffield Shield and at training cut his career short.
Pucovski was advised to retire in August 2024
Pucovski was advised to retire in August 2024 by a concussion panel, after being hit in the head by a bouncer in a Shield match against Tasmania late in the previous summer.
He finished with an impressive Shield average of 45.19 from 36 matches, with seven centuries, including back-to-back double-tons in 2020/21.
Pucovski is currently the head coach of the Melbourne Cricket Club in Victorian Premier Cricket, while also working as a commentator for Channel 7 during the Big Bash League season.
