The third edition of the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) commenced at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Raipur on September 21, beginning with the women’s competition featuring two matches.
Imran Tahir’s Guyana Amazon Warriors, unbeaten in six matches, cruised past St Kitts and Nevis Patriots after Mohammad Nabi’s 4-17 and further contributions from Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph restricted the Patriots to 128.
Dasun Shanaka smashed the fastest century in CPL history off just 39 balls, finishing unbeaten on 121 as Patriots posted 235-4. Jeremiah Louis took a maiden five-for as St Lucia Kings collapsed to 98 all out.
It was a memorable run-fest, with more than 500 runs scored in the match. The spectators were treated to some outstanding batting as Naman Dhir and Prabhsimran Singh both scored brilliant centuries, while three other batters also made important contributions.
