JOEL Cross and Faran Akhtar were the stars of the show as Barnton won the Cheshire Cricket League first XI T20 Cup Final in Birkenhead.
Cross shone with both bat and ball, scoring 33 not out when 162-4 was set in 20 overs as the target for Lymm Oughtrington Park to chase.
His run total was only trumped by Akhtar’s 67 but while defending their total Cross was Barnton’s most economic bowler.
Not only that, he took four important wickets
Not only that, he took four important wickets in four overs as Lymm were restricted to 134-7 in their 20 overs meaning Barnton won by 28 runs.
Barnton were boosted by a good turnout of support.
First XI captain James Hodgson posted a message on the club’s Facebook page, saying:
“I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.
“The support we had was absolutely incredible and made the day even more special.
