Smriti Mandhana has surpassed former India captain Mithali Raj’s record to become the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket across all formats. The India vice-captain achieved this milestone with a remarkable 124-run innings against Hong Kong during a Group A match in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 at Dubai International Stadium on September 4.
Mandhana’s 64-ball knock took her career runs tally to 10,880, overtaking Raj’s previous record of 10,868 runs. This places Mandhana at the top of the all-time list, followed by Mithali Raj, New Zealand’s Suzie Bates with 10,740 runs, England’s Charlotte Edwards with 10,273 runs, and West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor with 10,007 runs.

On social media platform X, Mithali Raj congratulated Mandhana, stating: “Well deserved, @mandhana_smriti! I’ve watched you grow from a young player into one of the finest batters India has produced. To see you go past my record and become the highest run-scorer in international cricket is a moment I’m genuinely proud of. Here’s to many more runs and milestones. Keep going.”
Mandhana’s record-setting innings also established the highest individual
Mandhana’s record-setting innings also established the highest individual score in Women’s T20 Asia Cup history, surpassing Chamari Athapaththu’s unbeaten 119 against Malaysia in Dambulla in 2024. The top five highest individual scores in the tournament now include Mithali Raj’s 97 not out versus Malaysia in 2018, Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama’s 81 against Thailand in 2022, and India’s Shafali Verma’s 81 against Nepal in 2024.
Additionally, Mandhana joined Harmanpreet Kaur as the only Indian women to have scored centuries in T20 international matches. Mandhana’s 124 against Hong Kong follows her 112 against England in 2025, while Harmanpreet’s 103 against New Zealand in the 2018 T20 World Cup remains the other century by an Indian woman in this format.
In the match against Hong Kong, Mandhana’s century propelled India Women to a commanding 137-run victory. Batting first, India posted 193 for 5, with Mandhana hitting 14 fours and seven sixes. She shared a 74-run opening partnership with Shafali Verma, who contributed 28 runs from 17 balls.
In response, Hong Kong were bowled out for 56 runs in 16.2 overs. Deepti Sharma led the bowling attack with figures of 3 for 9, supported by two wickets each from Shree Charani and Prema Rawat, and two from Nandani Sharma.
