Revelstoke’s cricketers are marking a memorable season on both sides of the wicket, as their fifth straight year of competition draws to a close.
The 2022-relaunched Revelstoke Cricket Club (RCC) previously played in the Interior Social Tournament, which rebranded earlier this year as the Elite Cricket League (ECL).
With games starting last May, the new tournament structure allowed RCC to face off with some of the best players across the Interior.
Fifteen clubs represented talent from as far across
Fifteen clubs represented talent from as far across Kootenay and the Thompson-Okanagan as Nelson, Castlegar, Penticton and Kamloops, with the top four teams proceeding to semifinals.
Revelstoke played 14 fixtures in the ECL season, recording six victories. Major wins included early in the season on May 3, when RCC ended its home opener victorious in a close battle with the Castlegar Super Kings.

The match featured a 50-run partnership between Gaurav Joshi and Nagender Kanwar, topped by a 60-run partnership by Matthew Bramall and Jimmy Dhillon. Despite a great batting line, the Super Kings couldn’t make a comeback as RCC captain Navdeep Samra won the day with strong bowling.

Revelstoke went on this season to also beat the Glenmore Stallions, Lake Country, Okanagan United, the Kelowna Smashers and Okanagan Hawks.
“While the wins were certainly a highlight, the experience of competing against established and highly skilled teams from Kelowna, Kamloops and the Okanagan Hawks was equally valuable,” RCC told Black Press Media by email.
“Playing at this level gave the Revelstoke team an opportunity to test its skills, identify areas for improvement and learn from some of the best players in the region.”

Club president Kanwar thanked athletes, volunteers and supporters from Revelstoke as a whole who helped make the season a success for RCC while bringing people together.
“The Revelstoke Cricket Club is incredibly grateful to be able to play this wonderful sport in such a small and beautiful town,” RCC said. “The support from local businesses, sponsors, families, friends, players and the wider community has been instrumental in keeping cricket alive and growing in Revelstoke.”

Goldie Sanghera of Paramjit’s Kitchen, for example, has donated $2,500 to the club annually for the last four cricket seasons, helping cover ground fees, game equipment and various match and operation costs. Parbhjot Sohi, owner of Revelstoke’s Quesada and Pizza Hut, also contributed in $2,500 this season, while Save-On-Foods manager Caleb Darley chipped in drinks and protein bars.

RCC will continue to play out the summer, with several friendly matches scheduled this month and the Calgary Chargers visiting from Alberta on Sept. 19 and 20 for multiple fixtures.
To close 2026 on the cricket pitch, Revelstoke’s athletes will head to Calgary to play their final games Oct. 3 and 4.
“It has been a great season of cricket, and we look forward to returning next year with renewed energy, stronger skills and even bigger ambitions,” RCC concluded. “Thank you, Revelstoke, for being part of our cricket journey.”
