The Pakistan Super League (PSL) could be held in January next year, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and owners of the league’s eight franchises discussing the proposed change.
According to cricket website ESPNcricinfo, the proposal was discussed at a PSL Governing Council meeting in London on 1 September. The league’s media rights holder suggested moving the tournament to January because of limited advertising revenue during the April-May window.

However, the availability of overseas players could become a major challenge if the PSL is moved to January. The tournament would also face competition from the Big Bash League (BBL) and South Africa’s domestic league during that period.

Another proposal was to hold an additional tournament in the middle of the year. The event could provide extra income for franchises and broadcasters.
The January move remains under discussion, with several issues still to be settled before a final decision.
