Zubin Bharucha, former team director of Rajasthan Royals, has been appointed director of performance by Mumbai Indians, the five-time Indian Premier League champions, Cricinfo reported.
Bharucha, who has been involved with Rajasthan Royals since the inaugural IPL season in 2008 in various capacities, will focus on working with Indian players during the off-season in his new role. He will collaborate with Mumbai Indians assistant coach Paras Mhambrey at the franchise’s Mumbai-based facility throughout the year and coordinate with the coaching staff to assist players in meeting performance goals.

He has already begun his duties and is currently touring South Africa with a group of young Mumbai Indians players alongside Mhambrey.
A former Mumbai cricketer, Bharucha represented the state
A former Mumbai cricketer, Bharucha represented the state at age-group level before making his first-class debut in the 1992-93 season. He played 17 first-class matches and 11 List A games before retiring after the 1994-95 season.
Renowned for his cricketing knowledge in Mumbai, Bharucha joined Rajasthan Royals as team director in 2008 and remained until moving to Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) as technical director for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He returned to Rajasthan Royals in 2018 as director of cricket and stayed until 2025.
Mumbai Indians, who have won the IPL title five times, have faced challenges recently, missing the playoffs in four of the last six editions. The team is currently led by head coach Mahela Jayawardene, with Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga serving as batting and bowling coaches respectively.
