Police registered a case on May 30, 2026, under Sections 318(4), 319(2) and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Hyderabad: A fitness trainer allegedly posing as a man with high-level political and official connections has been arrested for cheating people. The charges include taking Rs 1 lakh on the promise of arranging eight IPL tickets and allegedly offering government jobs for money.
The accused, Bhukya Mohan Lal, 35, of Kukatpally, is a native of Wanaparthy. Lallaguda Police arrested him after a complaint over an alleged IPL ticket fraud led to the uncovering of his wider modus operandi.
Took Rs 1 lakh for eight IPL tickets
According to police, Mohan Lal promised the complainant eight lounge and ground-floor tickets for an RCB vs Sunrisers match for Rs 1.70 lakh.
He allegedly received Rs 1 lakh in cash
He allegedly received Rs 1 lakh in cash from the complainant at Taaza Kitchen in Tarnaka but failed to provide the tickets. When the complainant sought the tickets or his money back, the accused allegedly avoided him and gave various excuses.
During the investigation, police allegedly found that the accused had used a similar strategy with several other people.
He allegedly promised Police Constable, Postal Department, Panchayat Secretary and Group-IV jobs, besides other employment opportunities and benefits, after collecting money from victims.
Claimed links with Ministers, officials

Police said Mohan Lal allegedly gained the confidence of victims by claiming that he had contacts with Ministers, senior police officers, government officials, celebrities and other influential people.
He allegedly represented himself as working at the Telangana Legislative Secretariat under a Minister and possessed an identity card purportedly showing his association with the Secretariat.
Police also found an identity card related to Defence Laboratories School, which mentioned the designation PGT – Physical Education.

Police search for more victims
Police seized a mobile phone, identity cards, documents and cheques from Mohan Lal.
Investigators are now identifying other people who may have allegedly been cheated using the same modus operandi.
SI Ch. Vijay apprehended and arrested the accused. The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officers of the Secunderabad Zone and Lallaguda Police Station.
The accused was produced before the court, and further investigation is underway.

Police have urged the public not to believe anyone who promises government jobs, employment or other benefits in exchange for money.
People have also been advised to verify claims of contacts with Ministers or government officials and report suspicious individuals to the police.
