Punjab Kings (PBKS) spinner Harpreet Brar picked Team India skipper Shubman Gill as the batter he would most like to dismiss in the IPL. The left-arm spinner, who has played only sparingly for PBKS over the past two seasons, has bowled 28 deliveries to Gill in the IPL.However, Gill, who plays for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL, holds the upper hand over Brar, scoring 38 off 28 balls without being dismissed.
The PBKS spinner hasn’t been part of the playing 11 in his side’s meetings against GT in the last two IPL seasons.Talking about his most cherished and desired wicket in an interview with Cricbuzz, Brar said:”After Virat paaji, there’s no batsman whose aura is such that their wicket can be remembered. But still, I haven’t yet dismissed Shubman Gill in the IPL. I would definitely like to take Gill’s wicket in my career.
But for the last 3-4 years, whenever there’s a match against him, I haven’t been playing.”Brar’s rise to fame came in IPL 2021, when he dismissed Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers in a clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).”There is the Impact Player (rule), because of which I have gone down” – Harpreet Brar on his limited opportunities with PBKSHarpreet Brar believes the Impact Player rule has adversely affected his game time with PBKS in the past couple of IPL seasons.

The 30-year-old played only two games in IPL 2026, following an eight-game season in 2025.Brar was a regular in the PBKS 11 in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, even with the Impact Player Rule. However, the side has had many overseas all-rounders like Marco Jansen, Marcus Stoinis and Azmatullah Omarzai over the last two seasons, leading to Brar’s dwindling opportunities in the playing 11.”I can only work on things.
Because you know what, the way cricket is going on now, there is the Impact Player (rule), because of which I have gone down one spot further (in the batting order). If I play, there’s only Arshdeep (Singh) and Yuzi paaji (Chahal) after me. Because Marco Jansen also bats. Even if Azmatullah (Omarzai) plays, he will go above me,” said Brar e, it hurts
But as a cricketer, the team always comes first, which is our motto. We must go as per the demands of the team. But it doesn’t mean that if I am not playing, I’ll just sit and feel low.”Brar boasts an impressive record with the ball in the IPL, picking up 37 wickets in 51 games at an economy of under eight.
