Domestic Officiating overhaul And Four-Tier Grading system
Ahead of the Ranji Trophy start on 11th October, domestic match officials received a massive hike in monetary benefits under a new four-tier grading system. The General Body approved a revised pay scale for umpires and match referees for men’s and women’s domestic cricket. Grade A and Grade B will manage senior men’s and women’s domestic fixtures, while Grade C and Grade D referees will be deployed in junior age-group tournaments.
The move ends an eight-year pay freeze for domestic panel umpires and match referees. Under the previous grading system, the top 20 domestic umpires received Rs 40,000 per match day, and the rest got Rs 30,000 in matches played on days other than T20. Further, match officials earned Rs 20,000 per day for T20 fixtures, with a maximum of Rs 1,500 per day as outstation travel allowance. Look, the new four-tier grade matrix has been introduced to address the long-standing grievance of the national and state-level match officials on unequal pay as per the revised grading.
IPL 20th Edition, 2028 Centenary blueprint, And Welfare reforms
Major celebrations are on the anvil for the cricket board over the next two seasons. The 20th edition of the Indian Premier League in 2027 will witness large-scale events to mark this important milestone in Indian cricket’s journey. In addition, the board has commenced the groundwork for the 100-year centenary of the cricket board, which will see a year-long nationwide festival from December 2027 to 2028, commemorating the foundation year of the Board (1928).
Regulatory reforms and welfare measures figured prominently in the agenda of the 95th AGM. The board approved an updated Age Verification Policy with stringent biological screening procedures to prevent age fraud in junior cricket. The Internal Committee under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment framework was reconstituted. The state associations were also asked to earmark practice grounds, equipment, and funds to provide extensive support to differently-abled cricketers in their respective units.
