Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has been fined 10 per cent of her match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during a Group A match of the Women’s Asia Cup against India in Dubai on Saturday.
Fatima was found to have breached article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.”
In addition, one demerit point has been added to her disciplinary record, for whom it was the second offence in a 24-month period, taking her tally of demerit points in this period to two.

While India’s bowlers dominated the proceedings by bowling out Pakistan for just 55 runs, the Pakistan skipper waged a lone battle with the ball, snaring three wickets before India eventually won the contest by seven wickets.
The first of these was Shafali Verma, who had begun aggressively in pursuit of the modest total but fell off her sixth ball, chipping a catch back towards the bowler. After taking the catch, Fatima gestured in the direction of the pavilion.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
Despite the heavy loss against India, all is not lost for Pakistan, as they go head-to-head against Hong Kong, China, in the Asia Cup today. A win here will see the side into the semi-finals of the tournament.
