A new domestic cricket tournament
is set to get underway in Bangladesh with the Domestic Three, or D3 Trophy.
With preparations moving forward, the tournament has already unveiled its logo
and selected its six icon players. Now, the next major step is the management
draft.
The six D3 Trophy teams will pick
their preferred head coach, assistant coaches, physiotherapist, strength and
conditioning coach, and analyst through the draft. Their coaching and support
staff will be formed based on those selections.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board
(BCB) will provide one selector for each team. The team owners will appoint the
team manager, masseur and team boys. However, even though these appointments
will be made by the owners, they must follow all BCB rules and regulations. The
complete support staff setup will also require approval from the BCB.
Each of the six teams will select one
Each of the six teams will select
one head coach and two assistant coaches from the draft. They will also pick
one physiotherapist, one strength and conditioning coach, and one analyst.
That means each team will select
six members of its support staff through the draft.
The remaining members will be
appointed separately. The team owners will appoint one masseur, two team boys
and one team manager, while the BCB will provide one selector.
In total, each team will have an
11-member support staff.
The D3 Trophy management draft
will be held tomorrow, September 29, at the BCB media conference room. The
draft process will begin at 2:00 PM.
