The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will coincide with the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the third consecutive year, with the 12th edition set to take place from March 18 to May 2, 2027
Traditionally held in February and March since its inception in 2016 through 2024, the PSL shifted to an April-May schedule from 2025 due to clashes with ICC events. These include the Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host in 2025, and the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL franchises considered moving the tournament to the January-February window during a governing council meeting last month. This proposal followed concerns raised by Walee Technologies, the league’s media rights holder until 2029 and owner of one of two new franchises, Rawalpindiz, regarding limited broadcasting revenue in the current window.
The January-February period was deemed logistically unfeasible
However, the January-February period was deemed logistically unfeasible. Punjab, which houses three of the PSL’s four traditional venues—Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi—experiences harsh winters with dense fog that often severely reduces visibility. Additionally, the schedule’s latter stages would overlap with Ramadan, although a similar situation occurred in the 2024 edition.
The PCB’s media release, as cited by Cricinfo, did not specify venues for the upcoming edition. Since the tournament’s full relocation to Pakistan in 2020, matches have predominantly been held in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, having formerly been hosted or co-hosted by the UAE.
Faisalabad and Peshawar were added as venues in the previous edition, PSL 11; however, it was limited to Lahore and Karachi due to government-imposed fuel-conservation measures amid the West Asia crisis. Except for the final, all matches that year were conducted behind closed doors.
