Sri Lanka have announced a 15-member women’s cricket squad for the 2026 Asian Games following their runners-up finish at the Women’s Asia Cup, where they lost to India in the final.
Chamari Athapaththu will captain the side, which includes several players from the recent Asia Cup team along with some changes, according to the ICC website.

Notable omissions from the squad are Vishmi Gunarathne, who contributed significantly in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and the Women’s Asia Cup, and Nilakshika Silva, who also played key roles in both tournaments. Chetana Vimukthi, who returned for the Asia Cup, is also missing from the Asian Games squad.

The squad features promising young talent with 17-year-old Chamudi Praboda selected after an impressive Asia Cup performance. Nineteen-year-old Rashmika Sewwandi is included as well; her most recent T20I match was against Pakistan in August.
Experienced players such as Imesha Dulani, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Kaveesha Dilhari, Hasini Perera, Sugandika Kumari and Anushka Sanjeewani are also part of the team.
Sri Lanka will begin their Asian Games campaign against Malaysia on September 18.
The Sri Lanka women’s squad is: Chamari Athapaththu (captain), Imesha Dulani, Sanjana Kavindi, Hansima Karunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Anushka Sanjeewani, Kaveesha Dilhari, Hasini Perera, Kaushini Nuthyangana, Nimasha Meepage, Sugandika Kumari, Rashmika Sewwandi, Chamudi Praboda, Mithali Ayodhya and Kawya Kavindi.
