South Delhi Superstarz secured a decisive five-wicket victory over New Delhi Tigers in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, chasing 169 runs with more than an over remaining.
Following the match, New Delhi Tigers head coach Rajkumar Sharma, who is widely recognised for mentoring Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli in his early years, discussed his team’s campaign and highlighted players capable of advancing to the highest levels of Indian cricket.

Sharma identified key performers, stating, “If we talk about T20 cricket, Manish Sehrawat performed really well. Himmat Singh is a good player, and Hrithik Shokeen is also a solid performer. These players have already established themselves. They are the ones who will continue to work hard in the future. We also have Under-19 boys in our squad who need to learn, but with time, they will grow and become match winners.”

The coach also addressed the impact of missing Prince, one of the team’s marquee players and a member of the Indian national team, who was unavailable for the entire tournament due to injury. “First of all, missing Prince was a massive setback for us. He was our strike bowler and an India player whom we expected to lead our bowling attack. Unfortunately, he got unfit and was unavailable for the entire tournament. Having only two marquee players, Himmat Singh and Prince, losing one left us with significant shortcomings,” he explained.
Despite the setback and early tournament exit, Sharma praised the DPL’s role as a vital developmental platform for players aspiring to compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and for the national team. “DPL will make a massive contribution. Last year, players like Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya made it to the IPL. I am sure this platform provided by the DDCA will be immensely beneficial, and in the future, we will provide even more players to the IPL and the Indian national team,” he said.
Looking ahead, Sharma outlined plans for the Tigers’ forthcoming campaign. “We have a lot of introspection to do. A lot has been planned, and we need to execute it well by starting our preparations early. The boys remain confident that we will bounce back next season,” he added.

Revaan Rakyan contributed 17 runs off six balls, and Naman Tiwari added 10 runs off two balls. Divansh Rawat was the standout bowler for South Delhi Superstarz, taking four wickets for 25 runs, while Ankit Dabas impressed with figures of two for 16.
During the chase, South Delhi Superstarz managed their innings effectively. Anmol Sharma scored a robust half-century, and Ekansh Dobal remained unbeaten on 38 from 18 balls. Ankit Dabas finished the game with three consecutive sixes in the 18th over, scoring 18 runs from five balls to secure a comfortable five-wicket victory.
