After a blistering start to the season by Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya and Victor Letsoalo in the goal-scoring charts, KickOff looks at strikers who have scored at least 20 goals or more in one season in the Betway Premiership.
AmaZulu forward Ngwenya has started to set the pace for the golden boot race, after his brace against Mamelodi Sundowns in a 5-2 defeat took his overall tally to five goals in only four matches.

Just behind him is TS Galaxy striker Letsoalo, who has scored four goals in as many Premiership matches. Sundowns striker Brayan Leon is among a host of other players on three goals, after he also netted a brace in a rampant win over Usuthu.
Should the leading pack keep up with their early season scoring ratio, there is a chance a 20-goal mark could once again be reached, which would be for the first time in five years.
Scoring at least 20 goals in a season has always been a rarity in the PSL, as former Masandawana striker Peter Shalulile was the first player in ten years to score 20 goals or more when he won the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award in the 2021/22 campaign with 23 goals.
Previously it was Siyabonga Nomvethe, who had scored exactly 20 goals for former club Moroka Swallows in the 2011/12 season.

Shalulile, who has won the golden boot award multiple times, was in the running to equal or break former Kaizer Chiefs striker Collins Mbesuma’s PSL record of 25 goals he set in the 2004/05 season but the Namibian came short by two goals.
The other strikers who have won the golden boot award with at least 20 goals are Wilfred Mugeyi, who scored 22 goals for Bush Bucks in the inaugural 1996/97 campaign while Pollen Ndlanya also top-scored with 21 goals for Chiefs in the 1998/99 term.
