Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has spoken out against the Impact Player rule in the Indian Premier League, saying he does not believe the rule is good for the tournament or for the balance between bat and ball.

What is Impact Player rule?
The Impact Player rule allows a team to use 12 players in a match instead of the traditional 11. A player who has already batted or bowled can be replaced by another player during the game, giving teams greater flexibility with their combinations.

Raina, however, feels the rule takes away an important element of cricket. According to the former India and IPL star, batters can simply do their job and then sit out, while bowlers are left with very little margin for error. He believes this has made the game increasingly tilted in favour of the batters.
Raina also pointed towards the kind of massive totals being scored in the IPL and how easily they can now be chased. He feels that even a score of 300 can be chased under the current conditions, which he does not see as a positive sign for a cricket tournament.
His comments came during a recent conversation with former India cricketer Aakash Chopra, where Raina opened up about several aspects of his career. He spoke about his retirement, his close bond with MS Dhoni, his time with the Indian cricket team and various other experiences from his playing days.

Raina remains one of the most celebrated players in IPL history and is fondly known as ‘Mr. IPL’ for his remarkable contribution to the tournament. He spent the majority of his IPL career with Chennai Super Kings and was also the captain of Gujarat Lions for two seasons.
