Kieron Pollard reclaims his crown as the all-time leading run-scorer in T20 cricket history, surpassing Jos Buttler during a blistering knock in CPL 2026.
Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard regains the position of the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 cricket. The legendary power-hitter breached the record set by England’s Jos Buttler on Thursday during the ongoing 2026 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The record-breaking achievement came in Pollard’s power-packed 65 off 26 deliveries for Trinbago Knight Riders against Saint Lucia Kings at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba . He needed precisely 35 runs to go past Buttler’s aggregate of 14,890, the English captain was already at the top of the pile before the encounter, and it was all done with some of Pollard’s classic hitting on show.
Since the carnage the former West Indies, 39-year-old now has 14,921 runs in 749 T20 games and with the current form that Pollard is in he is on course to break the next historical milestone in the T20 cricket as 15,000 run barrier.

The struggle for supremacy in the T20 run-scoring chart has taken place for several months now. This year Pollard moved to the top for the first time, surpassing Chris Gayle, an Australian national like him, for the long-running global world record. Although the return to the runscoring mark may have stolen most headlines from this game however it has certainly brought Pollard within touching distance of another famous record. Chasing 212 Pollard’s eye-catching rate off 250 with 6 fours and 5 giant sixes moved his six count into four figures for T20 cricket with 1010 sixes to his name.
He is now only 47 sixes away from Chris Gayle’s world record highest maximums in the format which may signal the start of a new world record race in the sport as long as he keeps smashing sixes. Interestingly Pollard and Gayle are currently the only two men to have ever hit over 1000 sixes in T20 cricket while Andre Russell is currently third in the list with 808 sixes.
