India secured fifth place in the women’s 25 m pistol team event at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Monday. The team of Esha Singh, Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat scored 1727-56x. China won the gold medal with 1743-68x, South Korea took silver with 1735-65x, and Chinese Taipei earned bronze with 1734-48x.
In the women’s 25 m pistol individual final, Esha Singh finished eighth with a score of 580-22x, qualifying for the final round as one of the top eight shooters. Manu Bhaker, a two-time Olympic medallist, failed to reach the final after finishing 11th in qualification with 579-18x. Rahi Sarnobat placed 30th with 568-16x.

Earlier on Monday, India’s third-ever medal in Kurash at the Asian Games was confirmed when Pincky Balhara reached the semifinals in the women’s 78 kg category. In men’s compound archery, Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru advanced to the quarterfinals after edging out compatriot Sahil Jadhav 149-148 in the round of 16.
