The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking guidance after allegations of match-fixing and the sharing of inside information surfaced in a sting operation involving the Delhi Premier League (DPL).
DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma confirmed to Hindustan Times that the association has communicated with the BCCI and is prepared to provide available evidence, including video footage, if requested.
The allegations relate to Game 7 of the third edition of the DPL, played between Central Delhi Kings and North Delhi Strikers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Former Ranji Player Makes Claims In Sting Operation
The sting operation involved former Ranji player Rachit Bhatia, who allegedly offered information about a team’s playing XI before its official announcement.
According to the investigation cited by HT, Bhatia
According to the investigation cited by HT, Bhatia also made claims about involvement in fixing IPL matches and spot-fixing during the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
These claims have not been independently established as fact, and the DDCA has said it does not believe the allegations have merit.
The DPL match in question was won by Central Delhi Kings by four wickets, according to the tournament records.
DDCA Says Anti-Corruption Measures Were In Place
Ashok Sharma said the DDCA had implemented an anti-corruption programme during the DPL and that specialised officers appointed through the BCCI were deployed with the participating teams.
According to Sharma, anti-corruption personnel accompanied teams during
According to Sharma, anti-corruption personnel accompanied teams during travel, stayed at hotels and were assigned across all eight teams.
He said the association had allocated around Rs 30 lakh for the anti-corruption arrangements and maintained that the personnel were engaged directly through the BCCI rather than privately.
‘Whatever BCCI Asks Us To Do, We Will Do It’
Sharma said the DDCA would cooperate with any investigation initiated by the BCCI.
He said the association would provide video footage and other available material if requested, while verification of telephone recordings would require involvement from investigative agencies such as the Delhi Police or Crime Branch.
Sharma also stressed that the allegations remained claims unless independently verified.
If it gets proven, he said, the issue
“If it gets proven,” he said, the issue would take precedence over any individual because the future of young cricketers and the integrity of the DPL were at stake.
Vansh Bedi Mentioned In Allegations
The sting operation also led to speculation around Vansh Bedi, who has played for Central Delhi Kings and was picked by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 55 lakh ahead of the 2025 IPL season.
However, there is no established finding in the material provided that Bedi was involved in wrongdoing.
Sharma said that if an investigation found evidence of wrongdoing, the player would face the consequences, but if he had done nothing wrong, he would be cleared.
He also said the DDCA would not jump
He also said the DDCA would not jump to conclusions and would follow the BCCI’s directions before examining player details, phone records and other available information.
BCCI To Decide Next Course Of Action
The DDCA has maintained that its anti-corruption system during the DPL was robust and has referred the matter to the BCCI for further direction.
The next steps will depend on whether the BCCI seeks additional material, orders a formal review or asks investigative authorities to examine specific allegations.
For now, the claims made during the sting operation remain allegations, while the DDCA has said it is ready to cooperate with any verification process.
