We are back with another edition of This Week in US Cricket. Since our last column we have seen 2 auctions take place for upcoming winter leagues.
The first auction was for the 2026 International League T20, a T20 competition that takes place in the United Arab Emirates. This year’s competition was moved forward to take place from November 22nd to December 20th. The draft was conducted on October 4th with the following US internationals taken. Note auction price or if pre-signed is in parenthesis.
Desert Vipers: Andries Gous (retained from last season’s champions)
MI Emirates: Sanjay Krishnamurthi ($10,000)
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders: Matthew Tromp (pre-signed) and Amshi De Silva ($100,000)
Dubai Capitals: Hassan Khan ($90,000)
Gulf Giants: Shubham Ranjane ($10,000)
On Wednesday, the SA20 auction took place in Johannesburg for the upcoming 5th season. After not being taken in the Marquee 2 portion of the auction, he was selected in the nomination express portion. The nomination express immediately starts the auction for the player with the team selecting getting the first bid at the initial asking price.
In the 2nd round of the round robin the Joburg Super Kings selected Andries Gous. Once the auction portion of the round concluded, Gous was a Joberg Super King at an auction price of 1,000,000 Rand (between $60,000-$62,000 USD).
Gous becomes the 2nd American to be selected in the SA20 after Shubham Ranjane was selected by the Super Kings last year. Ranjane was not selected this year.
