Warwick captain Corey Burgess called heads during the coin flip to decide the rained-out Premier Division 40-Overs Knock-Out semi-final against St George’s on Sunday.
It came down to 50/50 and the coin said tails, which concluded Warwick’s season. No final, no chance at silverware.

Yet the year still delivered the season’s main goal of membership among the Premier Divisions in both the T20 and 50 Overs leagues.
Moreover, after several seasons in the role of the ultimate yo-yo club — up one year, down the next, this time appears different. With what shapes up as a sustainable blend of youth and experience, Warwick performed like a club that stopped surviving and started building.
Coach Lorenzo Tucker alluded to this, while emphasising the need to add more pieces to enhance the team’s depth.

Malachi Jones, Kevon Fubler, Kamau Leverock and Tre Manders provided an abundance of experience and talent this year, with Luke Horan, Alex Brown, Jelani Richardson standing as solid building blocks for the future.
Nevertheless, with nearby Rangers possessing a verified superteam, St George’s doing a reasonable job of retooling and Somerset also showing signs of progress, Tucker knows he cannot afford to stand idle.
“It was unfortunate how things turned out on Sunday,” said Tucker, whose side were champions of the T20 First Division after going undefeated.
We were looking forward to a good game
“We were looking forward to a good game and a chance at another trophy, but at the end of the day Mother Nature ruled and we had to go with the rules that apply.
“It’s still been a great season, even though we would have rather played. We had a main goal of being in both top leagues at the end of the year and we’ve got promoted into the T20 league.
“We had a chance to finish second in the 50 Overs, but I’m so happy that we stayed up and are now in both Premier leagues. We can build from that as we head towards next year.
I think at full strength we can beat
“I think at full strength we can beat anybody in the league, but we have to be able to put out full-strength teams consistently.
“We have a lot of young players here, but not everyone is always available. So we’re looking to get some recruits in order to steady our ship because basically we had a strong team this year but we couldn’t always put a strong team out on the field.
“Rangers have a really strong team, a super team. Somerset are a really good team and St George’s are a good team. We’re looking to see if we can at least stay on par with those guys, while increasing our depth and see if we can make another leap forward next year.”
