Team Rugby is bringing a twist to New Zealand’s 2027 T20 Black Clash, with hopes that recruiting some fresh faces will lead them to a victory over Team Cricket in the annual showdown.
The Black Clash cross-code T20 showdown between Team Cricket and Team Rugby will be held at Christchurch’sHagley Oval for the fifth time on January 22, 2027.
However, things will be a little different this time, with Team Rugby inviting some friends along in a quest to take down Team Cricket, who won the 2026 competition by 5 runs.
Kieran Read, captain of what has become “Team Rugby + Friends”, said that while they’re not naming any of the lineup yet, they’ll be “bringing a couple of mates”.
