India’s young left-arm spinner Shree Charani said the team is focused on taking the tournament “one game at a time” after her impressive spell helped India crush Pakistan by seven wickets in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 on Saturday.
“I just tried to bowl at the stumps. By seeing the pitch, we knew it may turn, so I just focused on that,” Charani said after the match.
Charani said she, Prema Rawat, Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav discuss their plans together and try to implement the advice received from the senior players and team management.
“In the meeting, the three of us sit together — me, Prema, Deepti and Radha. We discuss what to do and try to implement whatever Deepti and Radha say,” she said.
The 22-year-old also praised fellow spinner Prema Rawat, who claimed 3/9, describing her as a “natural talent” capable of making an impact in all three departments.
“Prema is superb. She is a natural talent. She has everything — fielding, batting and bowling,” Charani said.
India chased down the modest target in just 8.4 overs despite losing its top three cheaply.
Asked about maintaining intensity with the knockout stage approaching, Charani reiterated the team’s simple approach.
“As I said, one game at a time. We are focusing on just one game at a time,” she said.
