King Edward VII (KES) ended Saturday on 194/1 after 49 overs in their Fasken Time Cricket Festival match against St Andrew’s Schoolon the Temba Bavuma Ovalat St David’s Marist Inanda.
Opening batsman Cian Sullivan led the way, scoring an unbeaten 102 runs off 151 balls, 10 of which he struck for four.
KES skipper Tyler Cloete won the toss and opted to field first, and his bowlers backed up his decision. St Andrew’s produced an unconvincing first innings on the first day of the festival, and they were again not at their best first time up.

His 44-run ninth-wicket stand with tailender Adi Froneman helped Saints to push beyond 200 runs. Froneman batted at a brisk pace, slamming four fours in his 31 off 37 balls.
Blaine Candy was the eighth bowler brought into the KES attack, and that decision paid off as he knocked over 2/6 in just seven deliveries. Keagan Hendey was efficient, claiming a neat 2/17 in six overs.

When KES replied, the century-maker, Sullivan, received solid support from number three batsman, Kyle Hennene, who finished the day undefeated on 76 from 128 balls. His knock included six fours, and he and Sullivan shared an unbroken 182-run second-wicket partnership.
Captain Schalk van Rensburg was the only wicket-taker for St Andrew’s, picking up 1/24 after clean-bowling opener Urav Mukhija.

A day after scoring 120 against Noordheuwel, St Charles’ opening batsman Owen Willows produced a good follow-up, striking two sixes and seven fours in his innings of 73 runs from 105 deliveries against St Stithians Collegeon the Andries Dlamini Oval.
He was the Pietermaritzburg school’s top scorer on Saturday at the Fasken Time Cricket Festival. Their innings lasted 63.3 overs and ended with the KZN visitors all out for 246.
Willows’ best partnership was his 70-run second-wicket stand with Tlotlang Kobe, who hit a four and six each in his 27 off 41 balls.

Zaakir Hanslo pinned St Charles down, claiming another four-wicket haul, with his tidy 20.3 overs being rewarded with a superb return of 4/42. Solid support came from Akhil Challa, who claimed 2/29, and Didier le Roux, who took 2/53, both in eight overs.
The hosts made a strong start to their first innings and bounced along to 175/2 after 37 overs.

Opener Ombesa Matsha looks on point to claim his second century of the festival on Sunday morning. He goes into the day on 90 not out, which he reached with 11 fours and three sixes sprinkled among the 107 deliveries he received.
He put up a hefty 130-run second-wicket partnership with Thomas Collins, who bashed seven fours and two sixes in a knock of 69 off 80 balls.
The only St Charles bowlers to enjoy success were ConnorSimpson, with 1/22, and Relebogile Mokoena, with 1/43.
