Colombo, Sep. 3 (Daily Mirror) – Sri Lanka’s women’s national cricket team has secured automatic qualification for the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced.
SLC said the qualification was secured based on the team’s standing in the current qualification process for the tournament.
The announcement comes after the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed the arrangements for hosting the 2027 Women’s Champions Trophy. Sri Lanka had been considered in connection with hosting the tournament but will not host the competition.
SLC welcomed the national team’s qualification and said it would provide the necessary support to prepare the players for the tournament.
Sri Lanka Cricket also said it would continue working closely with the ICC, the host nation and other relevant stakeholders to support the successful staging of the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy.
