The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), in collaboration with team owners and league partners, held a launch ceremony in Dubai to announce the introduction of the Afghanistan Premier League T20 (APL T20).
During the event, officials unveiled the league’s first three teams along with their official identities and revealed the main championship trophy. The founding franchises participating in the inaugural season are Axcel United Kabul, Balkh Zwanan, and Kandahar Warriors, each representing the cricketing enthusiasm of different regions across Afghanistan.

Team owners outlined their vision for the league, emphasising the development of professional organisations, nurturing young local talent, and providing an engaging and competitive style of play.
The championship trophy, named ‘Koh-E-Zafar,’ was also introduced. Its design draws inspiration from Afghanistan’s renowned mountain ranges, symbolising strength, endurance, and high sporting achievement. ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf stated that the name reflects the ongoing effort to establish a strong cricketing heritage for future generations.
Officials announced key dates for the forthcoming season: player registration for the APL T20 Draft will open on August 30, followed by the Player Draft on September 27. The tournament is set to commence on December 27, with further details about host venues and the full match schedule to be announced in the coming weeks
