Rasikh Salam Dar has been selected by the BCCI as one of the three net bowlers who are set to travel with the Indian team at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. Kartik Tyagi and Vicky Ostwal are the two other bowlers to be travelling with Dar. Cricket in the 2026 Asian Games starts from September 17, 2026.
Indian right-arm medium pacer Rasikh Salam Dar who plays for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League has got his call in the Indian team for the upcoming 2026 Asian Games in Japan. Dar will travel with the team to Japan in the form of a net bowler. Alongside Dar, KKR pacer Kartik Tyagi and RCB spinner Vicky Ostwal will also travel with the team to Japan as the two other net bowlers. The cricket competition of the 2026 Asian Games will start from the 17th of September and will continue till the 3rd of October.
Rasikh starred in the latest IPL campaign for the Bengaluru side, when the team went on to defend their title with back-to-back wins by defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final in Ahmedabad, under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar. While playing alongside star players like Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvenshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, the young pacer did not get the limelight and remained as an underrated performer in the campaign. He played as the third pacer in the RCB lineup alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood and went on to become the second-highest wicket-taker for the RCB in the season with 19 wickets while playing in 12 games at an average of 21.31 and an economy rate of 9.45. The 26-year-old also delivered a brilliant and outstanding performance in the IPL final by dismissing Nishant Sindhu, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan, ending the match with an exceptional figure of 3/27 after bowling four overs at an economy rate of 6.75.

Kartik Tyagi and Vicky Ostwal will also be travelling along with Rasikh Salam Dar to Japan as the other net bowlers. Tyagi picked up 18 wickets from 14 games at an average and economy rate of 27.66 and 9.76 respectively, in the latest edition of the IPL for KKR after missing out of the previous season. Vicky Ostwal did not play a single game for the RCB in IPL 2026 but has 14 wickets in 15 T20s to his name at an average of 25.71 and an economy rate of 6.46. Some reports are suggesting that Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan are also likely to join the team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is managing the logistical and travel expenses for the additional net bowlers to ensure thorough pace preparation.
Rasikh’s domestic career
Rasikh Salam Dar originally played for Jammu and Kashmir in Indian domestic cricket but recently moved to represent Baroda. Rasikh made his List A and First-Class debuts for Jammu and Kashmir during the 2018-19 season under mentor Irfan Pathan. As a result of his eye-catching performances he caught the eyes of Mumbai Indians which led to his debut at the age of 17. His career suffered a major backlash in 2019, when the BCCI banned him for a tenure of two years due to discrepancies in his birth certificate. He continued his private training under the guidance of Mumbai Indians. He returned to professional cricket in the 2021-22 Syed Mustaq Ali trophy where he opted to play for Baroda instead of Jammu and Kashmir for better opportunities. He has 19 first-class wickets and 19 List A wickets to his name.

India will start the 2026 Asian Games campaign as the defending champions. They are among the four seeded teams including Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Shreyas Iyer will lead the Indian squad.
